Manic-ure Monday: A Taste of Summer by Lily & Fox and Stunner by Marteeka Karland

It’s the end of July, so I decided to pick a design that’s fun and yummy. This is A Taste of Summer by Lily & Fox. They look like little watermelons. Every week I choose nail wraps that go with either the season or my mood (which can get interesting because I have Bipolar. Some weeks it’s four different nail sets.) I get them from Etsy, Lily & Fox, Nailfordable, or Nails Mailed usually, but if you know somewhere else that sells nail wraps for a decent price, I’d appreciate your recommendation.

I use nail wraps because they’re pretty and convenient, plus they’re easy to do. I can’t paint my nails because of the tremors, and nail wraps let me still have a good-looking manicure. I like to listen to audiobooks while I do my nails, and this week I’ve chosen Stunner by Marteeka Karland, read by Umi Markkanen.

Narration review- The narrator has a clear voice that is easy to understand. Umi is great. When she’s doing the male voices, I forget that she’s female. I can’t say enough good things about Umi.

Mewsings

This is my favorite so far of Marteeka’s books. Both were beloved side characters in other novels and I’ve been anticipating this one.

What I liked- I love that Susie and Stunner got their own book! Both characters are favorites of mine. They are both very special. Susie has an irrepressible personality and is brilliant. Stunner has endless patience with and a steadfast love for her. Their feelings have built for years into a love that is deep and abiding. He let her decorate his beard for goodness sake, and she refrained from shooting him when he shaved it! That’s love there, folks.

What I didn’t like- in case you missed it, HE SHAVED THE BEARD. Oh, the humanity….

Verdict- I couldn’t love this book more.
